Creamy Mango Boba with Fresh Fruit Topping

If your teen begs you to get boba every other day, you are in the right spot. This recipe is a lifesaver!  It’s a fun and easy way to enjoy a sweet, tropical treat without the added cost of a café visit.

The combination of chilled mango nectar, creamy milk, and those chewy brown sugar boba pearls is just so satisfying. My teen is always happy when I hand them a glass of this boba, and let’s be honest, that’s a big win and totally worth it! Honestly, I feel like a hero for just a few minutes of effort, and love the refreshing drink just as much as my kids.

Ingredients

I’ve compiled a list of everything you need to make this drink, along with some simple substitution recommendations.

  • ½ cup quick-cooking brown sugar boba pearls – The sweet, chewy texture this drink is known for. Use regular boba pearls or fruit-flavored popping boba for a fun twist.
  • 1 Tablespoon honey – Adds a natural sweetness to the drink. Substitute maple or agave syrup for the honey.
  • 2 cups mango nectar – Creates a fun tropical flavor. Use peach or pineapple nectar for a slightly different taste.
  • ½ cup whole milk – Gives the drink a creamy texture. You can use another milk variety, such as oat milk.
  • 1 cup ice – Don’t skip the ice, it keeps the drink nice and cold.

GARNISHES:

  • Heavy cream or half & half – Just a splash makes the drink feel extra indulgent.
  • Diced fresh mango – For color, texture, and even more mango flavor.

How To Make Mango Boba

To make this drink, simply cook the boba, mix the remaining ingredients, layer the boba and mango mixture in glasses, garnish, and serve. Let me show you how.

  1. Cook the boba. Boil according to the package directions (usually 3–5 minutes for quick-cooking pearls). Drain and rinse under cold water. Then, toss the pearls with honey or simple syrup.
  2. Mix the drink. In a large measuring cup, stir together the mango nectar, milk, and ice.

  3. Start to assemble. Divide the boba between two glasses.
  4. Add the liquid. Pour the mango mixture over the top.

Top Tips for the Best Mango Boba

Customize the milk. Whole milk provides a creamy base, but oat, almond, or coconut milk also work beautifully.

Use quick-cooking boba for speed. It keeps prep under 10 minutes.

Rinse boba under cold water. This stops the cooking and keeps them chewy, not mushy.

Notes

To store boba: Cooked boba is best used right away, but you can keep the pearls in a bit of syrup at room temperature for up to 4 hours. After that, they start to lose their chewy texture.
To prep ahead: Mix the mango nectar and milk in advance and keep it chilled. Cook the boba just before serving for the best results.

Mango Boba Recipe FAQs

Where can I find boba pearls?

You can find boba pearls in most Asian grocery stores or, of course, online. Let me know in the comments if you would like me to send you an Amazon list.

How do I keep the boba from sticking together?

Do not skip the step of mixing the boba pearls with the honey after cooking the boba. This will keep the boba pearls from clumping together and add additional flavor to the drink.

What kind of straw do I need?

The boba pearls are quite large, so you’ll want to use a wide straw to suck them up. A regular-sized straw will not work.
