Life’s A Peach – Peach Dr Pepper

You will love this Life’s a Peach recipe if you love a good dirty soda. It is made with Dr. Pepper, vanilla, and peach syrups, as well as some half-and-half that makes it extra creamy. I love getting this drink on a Swig run, but the cost of those trips adds up fast. So, I recreated the beloved drink at home to get my dirty soda fix on a budget. Try this recipe, and you will have no reason to order it again! Plus, with only four ingredients, you can keep them in stock to make whenever you want.

What You’ll Need

You need just four ingredients to make this Copycat Life’s A Peach drink. Below is a list of ingredients with simple substitutions.

  • 4 cups pebble ice – Pebble ice chills the drink quickly and gives that signature crunchy texture at soda shops like Swig and Sonic. No pebble ice? You can crush regular ice in a blender, wrap it in a towel, and give it a few whacks with a rolling pin for that same effect.
  • 12 oz can of Dr. Pepper – Dr. Pepper is the base of this drink. Feel free to use Diet Dr. Pepper or a different soda (like Coke or root beer) if that’s what you’ve got.
  • 2 Tablespoons vanilla syrup – The syrup brings a smooth, creamy sweetness that pairs well with the peach. You can use store-bought syrup (like Torani or Monin), or make your own with equal parts sugar, water, and a splash of vanilla extract.
  • 2 Tablespoons peach syrup – This syrup gives the drink its peachy name and flavor. Again, bottled syrup works great here—or make a quick version by simmering canned peaches with sugar and a bit of water, then straining it.
  • 2 Tablespoons half and half – That creamy swirl at the end turns this from just a soda into a full-on treat. You can use heavy cream for a richer drink or milk/plant-based milk if you prefer something lighter.

Pebble ice added to glasses and then Dr Pepper poured in.

The syrups and half-and-half added and then stirred together.

Top Recipe Tip

My top tip is to not skip out on the pebble ice. Trust me, regular ice is just not the same! If you do not have pebble ice, no problem! Just throw some ice in your blender to crunch it up into smaller pebble-like ice.

Peach Dr Pepper Recipe FAQs

Is there a dairy-free alternative to the cream?

For a similar taste and level of creaminess, try using coconut milk, almond milk, or a non-dairy creamer.

Can I make a large batch for a party?

You can make a large batch by increasing the serving size. Just have the drink in a dispenser and keep the ice separate in an ice bucket that people can scoop into their cups before pouring the drink.

Can I use fresh peaches instead of peach syrup?

I haven’t tested this recipe using fresh peaches but imagine you can blend up some peaches with some honey to make your own peach syrup to use in the drink.
