When you want a quick and easy homemade breakfast, this Dash mini waffle maker recipe is your best friend. It comes together quickly, and the waffles turn out perfectly golden, crispy, and fluffy every time. You can make a fun waffle bar with different toppings like chocolate chips, berries, bananas, peanut butter, maple syrup, or whatever else you are in the mood for. This made-from-scratch waffle recipe is my favorite way to make a simple morning feel a little more cozy with cute little waffles.  

Ingredients and Substitutions

Here is a list of the ingredients you need to make these waffles, with a few simple substitution recommendations. 

  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour – Flour is the base of the recipe to form the structure of the waffles. You can use whole wheat flour as an alternative, but the texture will be more dense.
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar – Adds a hint of sweetness to the waffles. Substitute brown sugar for a deeper flavor. 
  • ½ tsp baking powder – This key ingredient helps the waffles rise and get fluffy while cooking. Do not skip this ingredient. 
  • ¼ tsp baking soda – The baking soda reacts with the buttermilk to create a light and airy texture. Do not omit this key ingredient. 
  • ¼ tsp fine salt – Enhances the overall flavor of the waffles and balances the sweetness. It is fine to use kosher salt instead of fine salt; just add a little bit more. 
  • 1 large egg – Binds the ingredients together. 
  • ¾ cup (180ml) buttermilk – Adds a tangy flavor and helps create the fluffy texture of the waffles. 
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter – Creates a rich taste in the waffles. 
  • ½ tsp vanilla or almond extract – Adds a warm flavor. Use either vanilla or almond extract.

How To Make Dash Waffles

These waffles are so simple to make. Just mix the ingredients, pour into the waffle maker, and cook. Let me show you how: 

  1. Preheat Your Dash Waffle Maker – Plug in your Dash mini waffle maker and let it preheat for about 2 to 3 minutes. The indicator light will help you know when it’s ready.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients – In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly combined.
  3. Mix the Wet Ingredients – In a separate small bowl or liquid measuring cup, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and your chosen extract (vanilla or almond).

  4. Combine the Batter – Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir gently just until the batter comes together. It’s okay if it’s a bit lumpy. If using mix-ins like mini chocolate chips or blueberries, fold them in now. 
  5. Cook the Waffles – Lightly spray the Dash waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of batter into the center of the waffle iron. Close the lid and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until the waffle is golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Repeat and Serve – Use a fork or silicone spatula to remove the waffle gently. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm with butter and syrup, fresh fruit, and whipped cream.

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup 120g all-purpose flour

  • In a separate small bowl or liquid measuring cup, whisk together the egg, buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla or almond extract.

Combine:

  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined—do not overmix! A few lumps are okay. If you’re adding extras (like chocolate chips), fold them in now.

Cook the Waffles:

  • Lightly spray the waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray. Add about 3 tablespoons of batter to the center of the waffle maker. Close the lid and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes, or until golden brown.

Repeat & Serve:

  • Remove the waffle carefully with a fork or silicone spatula. Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm with butter, syrup, whipped cream, fruit, or even use them for breakfast sandwiches!

Notes

Make-Ahead & Storage: These waffles freeze beautifully. Let them cool completely, then freeze in a single layer. Reheat in a toaster or oven until crisp.
