Buttery Beer

I love making this drink because it is super easy and makes a drink feel special. I make it for family movie nights, Sunday dinners, or when I need a pick-me-up or sweet treat during the day. Because the recipe only uses a few ingredients, I can keep them on hand and make this Buttery Beer drink whenever I want instead of driving to Swig to get my fix. 

Recipe Ingredients and Substitutions

  • A&W Root Beer
  • Butterscotch syrup
  • Coffee creamer OR heavy cream
  • Pebble ice

How To Make Swig Buttery Beer Copycat

  1. Fill both glasses with 1 ½ cups of ice. 
  2. Pour half of the root beer into each cup. 
    Pebble ice and root beer in two clear glasses.
  3. Stir in one tablespoon of butterscotch syrup into each cup.
  4. Pour one tablespoon of coffee creamer into each cup.
  5. Stir, serve, and enjoy!

Recipe Tip

Do not skip on the pebble ice. It makes a difference! If you do not have any, blend some ice in a blender.

Ingredients 

  • 12 oz can A&W Root Beer
  • 2 Tablespoons butterscotch syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons coffee creamer OR heavy cream
  • 3 cups pebble ice

Instructions 

  • Add 1 ½ cups of pebble ice to two glasses.
  • Pour half of the can of root beer into each glass.
  • Pour 1 tablespoon of the butterscotch syrup into each glass and stir.
  • Pour 1 tablespoon of the heavy cream into each glass and stir.
  • Serve and Enjoy!

Can I make this drink ahead of time?

I prefer to make and serve this drink fresh. However, mix the rootbeer and butterscotch syrup beforehand and then add the cream and ice just before serving.

Can I use a different brand of root beer?

Sure! A&W is my root beer of choice due to its rich flavor, but feel free to use any brand you like.

Can I make this drink dairy-free?

Use a dairy-free creamer or coconut creamer for a dairy-free option.
