Grinch Chex Mix

For a sweet-and-salty holiday treat, make this Grinch Snack Mix. It’s full of green puppy chow, candy, and pretzels.

Equipment

  • large mixing bowl
  • Microwave safe-bowl
  • baking sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Spatula or spoon
  • Resealable plastic bag
  • measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 6 cups rice or corn Chex cereal
  • cup from 12 oz bag green candy melts
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Grinch Pretzels

  • 2 cups Square pretzels
  • cup Candy melts light or dark green
  • ½ cup Heart sprinkles

For Decorating

  • ½ cup Green M&M candies or other gren candies

Instructions

Add cereal to a large mixing bowl.

  • In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt green candy melts for 1 minute. Stir, then continue heating in 10–20 second intervals until almost melted. Stir until smooth.
  • Pour the melted candy over the cereal and toss until fully coated.
  • Transfer the coated cereal to a resealable bag, add the powdered sugar, seal, and shake until evenly coated. Set aside to cool.

Make the Grinch Pretzels

  • Preheat the oven to 200°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange square pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet.

Top each pretzel with one candy melt.

  • Bake for 4–5 minutes, just until the candy melts become shiny (but not fully melted).
  • Remove from the oven and immediately press one heart sprinkle onto the center of each candy melt.
  • Let cool for at least 15 minutes before adding to the snack mix.

Assemble the Snack Mix

  • Add the prepared Grinch puppy chow to a large baking sheet or bowl.
  • Add the cooled Grinch pretzels and green candy.
  • Stir gently to combine.
  • Store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Notes

Storage

  • Room temperature: Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Make ahead: Both puppy chow and pretzels can be made the day before and combined just before serving.
